Season by season
Spring. Carp streamers fly over the river from mid-March, cherry blossom lines the bank and Mount Ohira in early April, and the weather is ideal for the boat.
Summer. Hydrangeas on Mount Ohira from mid-June to early July. July and August are hot; evening boat rides and lantern events are sometimes held.
Autumn. Mild and clear. In festival years the floats come out in November.
Winter. Cold, dry and quiet, with crisp views from Mount Ohira and strawberries from December.
