What to expect
GetYourGuide files these under Nikko. The standard coach tour spends the morning at Toshogu Shrine and the afternoon at Kegon Falls and the lake, typically with 30–40 minutes at each. That is enough for photographs but not for walking.
If Oku-Nikko is your priority, look at the private nature tours, which can include Ryuzu Falls, Senjogahara, Lake Yunoko and Yumoto Onsen, or stay a night and explore by local bus.
We found no tours that start at Lake Chuzenji itself — locally, the lake cruise boats and the Kegon Falls elevator are simply paid on the spot.
Good to know
- The Kegon Falls elevator (around ¥600) is often not included in tour prices.
- In peak autumn weeks, traffic on the Irohazaka can cut time at the lake short.
- It is noticeably colder at the lake than in Tokyo — bring a layer even in summer.
